The immediate past Chairman of Coker –Aguda LCDA, Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi Obe has heaped praises on her successor, Hon. Ibrahim Rasaq Lekan for keeping the council working. She made this assertion at the ceremony covered by Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper marking the 100-days in office of the new helmsman.

Applauding the works of the youthful Chairman of Coker-Aguda, Hon. Obe stated: ‘I feel elated and happy that the council is working. The things that our Chairman is doing are things that I have not done before.

He has started new projects. He is constructing new road in Orile. He is doing 100% reconstruction and rehabilitation of the PHC in Orile. The community is happy. He gave poverty alleviation of N10,000 each to 200 people. Though small, it will bring succor to these people. He has given 23 indigences of Coker-Aguda LCDA scholarships putting Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba into consideration. We have to give him kudos for that.’

‘I congratulate the good people of Coker-Aguda. By the time we come next year, I pray that he will do exceedingly more. He will satisfy the young, the old, the widows, single parents, and all. He will bring dynamism into the running of the education and health, as well as the running of the council itself. I want to thank our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, all GAC members, our state chairman, and everyone that participated in the emergence of good leadership in Coker-Aguda’, she added.

While antagonists will expect her not to be present at the event, the Amazon Administrator Hon. Obe reacted: ‘In Coker-Aguda, we don’t believe in PHD – Pull Him/Her Down. If you will vie for position, you should know that there will be scattered interests, opinion, and followership but the dynamic is that immediately that the party has chosen someone, everybody will fall in line. You may hear that some people protested but 90% of those who protested are here now. It is part of democracy and it is part of internal democracy.’

She, however, expressed her desire that more women will engage in political participation in the local council, ‘It would have been nice if we had a competent woman also competing but as it is, our Chairman is the former Supervisor of Health so he understands the dynamics of council administration, integration of executive and legislature, and he is at home with the system. But as women, we are the ones that canvass for votes, bring people out to vote but you know the mindset that a lot of our people have is that a woman has to be entangled with someone in power to be able to participate but it is not true.’

‘Look at what Madam Tinubu did in the 18th century. Madam Tinubu is an activitist, an industrialist, and a politician – you need all this 3 even in your family. And that is what our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is encouraging our women. With his encouragement, I was able to emerge in my own time when we had 21 aspirants. We used the wisdom that we use to bring our family together in that regard, too. This shows that what a man can do, a woman can do better.’
