Afro Juju crooner, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, popularly known as Sir Shina Peters, (SSP) was on Saturday ordained as bishop of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Iju area of Lagos State.
Sir Shina Peters as he is popularly called broke the news on his Instagram handle captioned ‘‘Bishop with the swagger. God above all.”

In the video believed to have been taken on Saturday in Lagos, Shina Peters was dressed in a bishop’s garment and a certificate was handed over to him by the church authorities.
The handsome husband of Sammy Peters wrote on his facebook page, “To God be the glory. I will serve my God till the end”.
Born in Ogun state, Peters’ career in music began at a young age when he played with friends under the handle of Olushina and His Twelve Fantastic Brothers. He taught himself the piano and later joined Ebenezer Obey’s band.
He left Obey’s band to join General Prince Adekunle as a guitarist.
Adekunle’s band played in Lagos hotels such as Western Hotel, Palm Beach, and Executive Hotel. When Adekunle was ill, Peters acted as lead singer.
He later left Adekunle to form Shina Adewale, a band with Segun Adewale. The duo soon split. Peters had put out albums with Segun Adewale in the 80s before eventually forming his Sir Shina Peters & His International Stars.
