2023: Lagos Mainland APC inaugurates 126-member campaign committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos Mainland Campaign Committee has inaugurated a 126-member committee to coordinate its election processes at the ward levels.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr Ayodeji Abdulrauf, made the remarks at the inauguration of the Wards Campaign Committee of the Lagos Mainland Local Government Area and Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos on Friday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Lagos state Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi had inaugurated the campaign committee headed by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while the state chairman, Ojelabi, is the deputy chairman, and the deputy governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the vice chairman.

Abdulrauf stated that the 126 members comprised of seven members each from the 18 wards at the Lagos Mainland council.

 

He said the committee at the ward level would campaign rigorously for the party’s candidates across board with a view to ensuring victory for all its candidates.

He noted that nomination of the members to serve in the committee was based on their knowledge and ability in campaign strategy and planning, mobilisation, logistics and election management.

He added that the success of the general elections therefore, rested on their effectiveness and commitment.

He enjoined them to work as a team and to bring everyone on board.

“We have already commenced campaign and all our activities are now set.

“Lagos Mainland is one and we are already set for the success of the party,” he said.

The chairman said that whatever maybe the differences between them prior to the APC primaries was over in Lagos Mainland.

He added that they were set for the campaign proper and expressed hope that that all the party candidates would win the election.

He said the task of the committee was to convince the electorate that their candidates remained the best.

Abdulrauf said all APC candidates were sellable, starting from its Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to the party’s Senatorial Central Candidate, Mr Wasiu Sanni-Eshinlokun.

He added: “the Lagos Mainland Federal constituency candidate, Mr Moshood Oshun, and two candidates for the House of Assembly, Mr Ajani Owolabi and the incoming candidate, Mr Adebola Ashabi for the Lagos Mainland I and II respectively, will win.

A member of the newly inaugurated committee, Alhaja Hussna Shaabi, from Yaba LCDA, advised members to work hard to ensure victory at the polls for APC without calumny.

Shaabi assured that the members would continue to sensitise the electorate on the importance of collecting their voters cards from INEC.

She said: “If you have a voter’s card, you have your right and it is your strength, your voting power which must not be toiled with.

“I urge the people to use their voters cards judiciously by using it to vote in the candidates of their choice without being manipulated or bribed.

” I also advise INEC as the umpire for the 2023 general elections to be detailed and ensure the people’s votes count by doing the right thing.

“At the APC, l can assure Nigerians that the party do not allow lobbying. We will work hard to ensure victory at all levels.I also appeal to INEC to make sure the elections are free and fair for all.”

Similarly, Mr Isiaka Popoola, from Lagos Mainland local government area, assured that the members would deliver on the mandate of the party.

Popoola said they would mobilise members at the grassroots to vote for candidates of the APC in a free and fair manner. (NAN)
