EDUCATION, INFRASTRUCTURE TOP SUCCESSES OF HON. IBRAHIM RASAQ LEKAN IN COKER-AGUDA LCDA AT 100 DAYS

Education and social infrastructure have enjoyed priority under the leadership of Hon. Ibrahim Rasaq Lekan in his first 100 days in office. For this, the community has expressed excitement at his performance. They cannot wait to see what will happen when the Chairman clocks 1 year in office. That is the mark of true leadership.

Speaking at the event covered by Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper marking his first 100 days in office, Hon. Ibrahim Rasaq Lekan adduced: ‘The feedback of our community is that they are happy with our administration. We have more to present to the community. We will take it one after the other. We want to make the youth proud. We have a lot more to do and I believe the youths are going to be very happy with the development.’

‘First of all, we know how education is important in our country for which the parents are very happy with our performance. We hit the ground running with free holiday coaching with the view of taking our primary and secondary school students off the streets thereby saving them from the danger associated with the period.

We went further to give free study and writing materials. Similarly, in education, we organized Spelling Bee competition for both primary and secondary school students with view to prepare our eventual winners with confidence and experience for the state level. We pray that they make the best use of the preparation.’

On the other side of infrastructure, the Chairman noted: ‘To complement the efforts of the state government in combating the issue of flood in our community, we embarked on clearing of some of our drainages. In healthcare, we started doing renovation of our Primary Health Centre. To tackle the issue of electricity we have gotten three (3) transformers into Coker, Aguda, and Orile communities. We have provided 3 security vehicles for Coker, Orile, and Aguda.’

The Chairman did not stop on education and infrastructure alone, he has delved into other sector in a bid to make his people happy. ‘As if that was enough, we have started skill acquisition for our youths. This administration engaged the youths in free website and IT training to empower them.

We have put things in place to promote our artisans in tailoring, hairdressing, and catering. We gave moral and financial support to our football teams. We are so glad that they reciprocated by performing well in their competitions. We gave N10,000 each to 200 people for poverty alleviation to add to their business. We have concluded arrangements to empower our widows and widowers.’

Corroborating his principal, Hon. Matthew Olaleye, the Vice Chairman encouraged the people of Coker-Aguda LCDA. ‘My message to our beneficiaries is that as much as we have make things easy for them, they should try to make things easy for themselves by making efforts. Those that have gotten GCE forms should try in their exams so that when opportunities show up for scholarship as the Chairman has said they can benefit.

Those that have been given empowerment should make use of it. We want everyone to be law-abiding and peaceful in their dealings.’

The well-attended event had immediate past Chairman of Coker –Aguda LCDA, Hon. The council manager, Victor Semako Alivide who gave the vote of thanks said ‘I want to say thank you to everyone here today. By the time we celebrate 1 year, none of us wil be found wanting.’
