TINUBU, SANWO-OLU: HOW CONSPIRACY AGAINST ME HAS FAILED – SOLOMON OGBONNA, OHANAEZE NDIGBO LAGOS PRESIDENT
By Oki Samson, Trek Africa Newspaper

* Tips his state Governor, Dr. Dave Umahi for Nigeria’s no.1 job if presidency is rotated to Igbos
‘There is fear that the way I am being recognized in Lagos is a big headache for other Igbo groups and that the Lagos State Government gives me N20 million naira every month which is unsubstantiated. The basis is that the same way I am celebrating Gov. Sanwo-olu is the same way I will celebrate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and that I must be stopped now because Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the major Igbo group that is been heard. And if they allow me, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will silence Igbos in support of Westerners’ were Chief Solomon Ogbonna’s words when he granted an exclusive interview to Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper on the recent conspiracy that came up against him by a woman, Barr. Nkechi Agubuzor who is fronting for unidentified Igbo groups.

Shedding more light on the issue, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene added: ‘Nkechi Agubuzor met me in the office to say that some persons or group to whom she also serves as lawyer and human rights activist were cooking allegations against me and that she would mediate and deliver me from such plots at the cost of N400,000. One of the allegations she leveled against them is that they are alleging that i will move Ndigbo to Tinubu’s camp towards 2023’
Barr. Nkechi Agubuzor also alleged that I assaulted and locked up a woman at the Secretariat recently during a meeting. That woman is Ifeoma Okpara who had issues with her LG Chairman in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Ikorodu. ‘We had an executive meeting few weeks ago and because Barr. Agubuzor was suspended by the Council of Elders in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we said no meeting for her.
There was a hearing of the case of Ifeoma Okpara who had issues with her LG chairman in Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ikorodu. But we found that Barr. Agubuzor wanted to use that occasion to tarnish my image, hence the indefinite suspension. Despite the suspension, Barr. Agubuzor came with two policewomen to disrupt our meeting. It was there that Barr. Agubuzor confessed that she was been used by some people to discredit my person and my office.’
Another plot that has failed is the issue of the election of Ambassador George Obiozor, now the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo who they want ‘me to to work against the emergence of Obiozor as PG because he is 82 years old. This appeal met a stiff resistance as I told her that Chief Obiozor has been a man of honour who was instrumental to my emergence as president and that I can never oppose his emergence and rising.’
‘I am very proud to have made an enviable record as one Ohanaeze president who made a beautiful secretariat possible, facilitated monetary assistance to over one hundred Ohanaeze widows, gave a new lease of life to Igbo traditional rulers, Igbo Local Govt Heads of Ohanaeze, empowered youths through various empowerment and currently facilitating a cash benefit of one hundred and fifteen thousand, four hundred naira from Fidelity Bank for over two hundred and fifty Ohanaeze members. There are many more good things to come by the grace of God Almighty and the support of Ndigbo generally’, Ogbonna re-emphasized.
Ahead of the the race to 2023 presidency and the Southeast agenda, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene tipped his state governor, Dr. Dave Umahi as the man for the job. He shared: ‘If we talk about Southeast and 2023, I will talk about my own house and my Governor, Dr. Dave Umahi. He has never supported me financially since I became the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos knowing full well that the sociocultural organization has no allocation but depends on individual contributions. Looking at the development he has brought to Ebonyi state since he became governor if he becomes the President, he will do much more than expectations.’
‘But if you say it is not for Ndigbo, my next choice will be Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has been the powerhouse of success in Lagos. The people that I grew up with in Maroko that are now doing well through his support are many. I will tell my Ndigbos to support him if he is the candidate. I believe that whatever he says, he always goes beyond it. If he says give youths a chance, I believe him. If he says that the marginalization of Igbos will be buried, I believe him. Look at the 2nd Niger Bridge that has been used as a campaign promise for years, this government is doing it.’
‘No other tribe has Nigeria on their mind like the Igbos. Our investments are spread all over. It is only Ndigbos that you will see have skyscrapers in Lagos but maybe a bungalow in their village. Not just in Lagos. One of our brothers has the most beautiful residence in Kwara state. Another Igbo man also in Ibadan in Oyo state.’
‘We don’t care where we find ourselves, we only care about the land that blessed us. So any land that blesses an Igbo man, he will always want to have an impact there. Yet an Igbo man must be carried home when he dies. That is why they say ‘no matter how beautiful a white man build a cemetery, it is not for an Igbo man.’
‘If we give the presidency to Southeast, Dave Umahi has the power to lead Nigeria. Like I said earlier, he has never given us anything here as Ohanaeze Ndigbo which is the Igbo grassroots group. So it is not money that is making me mention his name. But Gov. Sanwo-olu has been supportive in order to unite Ndigbos through my leadership’.
On Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, ‘I can say that Gov. Sanwo-olu is a God-sent who doesn’t like people suffering. He usually reach out to us anytime we reach out to him. You know what our people expect is what they do in the past when any money they collect, they share. Now, we pay staff salaries in this secretariat. We use money when we hold meetings, among other things.’
‘I will continue to retain an unshakable relationship with Gov Sanwo-olu and the Lagos State Government to the benefit of Ndigbo, no matter the threat and blackmail from the enemies of Ohanaeze.’
‘The interesting thing is that this woman that is been used against me, Ifeoma Okpara is a widow. She was the first to receive the N100,000 support that Gov. Sanwo-olu gave to 100 widows among us last year. Well, she has come to confess and asked for forgiveness’, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos state concluded.
