Police Rescue 2 Suspected Abducted Victims, Intensifies Manhunt For Suspects

The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the successful rescue of two abducted victims following a reported case of abduction, in line with its sustained efforts to combat criminal activities across the State.
In this regard, a distress call was received at the Ondo State Police Command Control Room stating that on 24th January, 2026, at about 0945hrs, one Adesola Emiloye (male, 45 years), Jimoh Akinlolu (male, 35 years), Ebenezer Oloro (male, 43 years), and one other person whose identity is yet to be ascertained were ambushed by two armed men while on their site at the Eleyewo area, Akure.
Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately deployed operatives of its Tactical Teams to the scene, which led to the successful rescue of two victims and the recovery of their motorcycles, while the remaining two victims reportedly escaped into the bush. Concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.
Against this backdrop, the Ondo State Police Command reiterates unequivocally that Ondo State has never been and will never be a safe haven for criminal elements. As consistently demonstrated, criminals operating within the State will always be identified, tracked, and brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police further applauded the robust inter-agency collaboration between the Ondo State Police Command and the Ondo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), noting that their coordinated efforts have significantly strengthened crime prevention and enhanced public safety across Ondo State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership and strategic policing reforms, which continue to strengthen intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and efficiency across police formations nationwide.
Commending the operatives for their prompt and decisive response, the Commissioner described their actions as professional and commendable, noting that they reflect the Command’s enhanced operational capacity for timely response to security incidents.
The Command commends residents for their timely reports and cooperation and once again urges members of the public to continue providing credible and actionable information that will aid crime prevention and detection.
