The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has lauded the Lagos State Command and Control Centre (LSCCC) for its professionalism, efficiency and pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Dr. Ogunsan gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the ultra-modern facility, where he was received by the General Manager of the Command and Control Centre, Mr. Femi K. Giwa, alongside other senior management team of the agency. The visit formed part of the LSSTF leadership’s ongoing engagement with critical security and emergency institutions within the state.

Owned by the Lagos State Government, the Command and Control Centre serves as the nerve centre of emergency management in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and West Africa’s economic hub. It houses the emergency control room responsible for coordinating and managing Lagos’ two emergency helplines, 767 and 112, which operate round the clock to respond to distress calls from residents and visitors.
From this central hub, emergency incidents are assessed, prioritised and seamlessly routed to relevant response agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, RRS, Lagos State Taskforce, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), and other critical first responders. This integrated approach ensures swift, coordinated and life-saving interventions across the state.

Touring the facility, Dr. Ogunsan expressed visible satisfaction with the operational standards, technological infrastructure and human capacity on display. He praised the service agents for their calm disposition under pressure, prompt response to emergencies and unwavering professionalism in handling high-volume and high-stress situations.
“The efficiency of this Centre underscores Lagos State’s commitment to proactive governance and citizen safety,” Dr. Ogunsan noted. “What we have seen here is a blend of technology, discipline and dedication to service. These officers are truly the silent guardians behind many lives saved daily.”

He further reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Command and Control Centre, assuring Mr. Giwa and his team of continuous institutional support.
According to him, the Fund remains resolute in its mandate to mobilise resources from the public and private sectors to enhance security infrastructure and support frontline agencies across Lagos State.
The visit comes shortly after the LSSTF presented an operational vehicle to the Command and Control Centre, a move widely seen as part of strategic efforts to improve mobility, coordination and response effectiveness.

In his remarks, the General Manager, Mr. Giwa appreciated the LSSTF’s consistent interventions, describing the Fund as a dependable partner in Lagos State’s security and emergency response ecosystem. He emphasized that sustained support would further enhance service delivery and reinforce public confidence in the state’s emergency management system.
As Lagos continues to grow as a smart city, the Command and Control Centre and other set-ups like the recent one at Third Mainland Bridge will remain indispensable to maintaining public safety, resilience and rapid response in an increasingly complex urban environment.
