Nigeria Police Force said it has graduated 325 officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Basic Course 20/2025, to enhance operational readiness against evolving security threats.
The intensive four-week training, held from October 12 to November 7, 2025, at the Police Mobile Force Training College in Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, equipped officers with advanced skills in detecting, handling, and mitigating threats from explosive devices.
In a statement issued on X on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the training also equipped police officers to prevent the unlawful use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and other hazardous materials.
The statement read, “The Nigeria Police Force has further enhanced its operational readiness with the successful graduation of 325 officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Basic Course 20/2025.
“This is in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.”
Representing the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, at the graduation ceremony, Commissioner of Police in charge of the EOD-CBRN Command, CP Hauwa Ibrahim, MNIPS, commended the officers for their discipline, dedication, and teamwork throughout the course.
She noted that the training aligns with the IGP’s strategic vision to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.
The IGP also acknowledged the support of national and international partners, including the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), The HALO Trust, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
He recognised the contributions of specialised units within the Force, such as the Directorate of Force Medical Services, the Forensics Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
“The Inspector-General of Police reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to continuous capacity development, assuring Nigerians that the newly trained officers will significantly bolster national security efforts, enhance public safety, and support ongoing counter-threat operations across the country,” the statement concluded.
The development comes amid broader threats in Nigeria, including farmer-herder conflicts, separatist movements, and piracy.
The training aims to address escalating security challenges, particularly the Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgency that has claimed many lives through IEDs and suicide bombings.
