I’ve been a babalawo for over 18 years, says 9ice

Abolore Akande, the Nigerian artiste popularly known as 9ice, says he has practised as a traditional priest (babalawo) for more than 18 years.
At the listening party of his new album titled ‘Beginning Of Wisdom’, the ‘Gongo Aso’ hitmaker revealed that he has kept his faith hidden because he believed people would distance themselves from him if they knew the truth.
He added that his goal is to blend the ancient, ritual-rich traditions of his faith with contemporary music that appeals to today’s generation.
