ICPC Appoints John Okor Odey as New Spokesperson, Heads Media and Public Communications Unit

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced the appointment of Mr. John Okor Odey, a Deputy Director, as its new Spokesperson.
Mr. Odey takes over from Mr. Demola Bakare, fsi, and will also lead the Commission’s newly created Media and Public Communications Unit, operating directly under the Office of the Honourable Chairman.
According to a statement signed by Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, Esq., DSSRS, JP, the Commission expressed confidence that Mr. Odey’s strong background in media, public engagement, and strategic communication will deepen ICPC’s visibility and support its mandate to strengthen transparency and public awareness in the fight against corruption.
A Strategist With Multi-Sector Experience
Mr. Odey began his professional career as an editor, later expanding into broadcast media as a scriptwriter and presenter. Since joining the ICPC, he has served across multiple departments, including Public Enlightenment, Protocol, and Zonal Operations, giving him broad institutional insight and operational experience.

Mr. Odey holds a degree in English/Literature, a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies, and an MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies. He also possesses a Professional Diploma in Public Relations.
He is a certified member of several professional bodies, notably the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
With his appointment, the ICPC strengthens its internal and external communication architecture as part of ongoing institutional reforms.
