Gospel Musicians Rally Support For Ailing Singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu ‘Omije Ojumi’

Several Nigerian gospel and fuji musicians – including Yinka Alaseyori, Olabest, Alayo Melody, and Lanre Alewilese – have appealed for financial support to assist their colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi.

Newsonspot reports that the call for help follows her recent visit to G.F David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, where she sought healing. Omije Ojumi is reportedly battling a yet-to-be-identified leg ailment, which has left her financially drained.

In the clip, she sat on a chair, visibly emotional, while a clergy member prayed over her. The scene, believed to have been filmed at an open-air crusade, showed the singer struggling to speak as she wept. At one point, Bunmi reminded the minister of her name but remained overwhelmed by tears. Observers noticed a plaster on her right hand, suggesting she had recently received medical care.

The gospel star also appeared to reveal one of her legs, which looked affected, prompting the pastor to lay hands and pray for healing. During the session, the minister encouraged her to stay strong and promised that her pain would soon end. He reportedly sang songs of praise and urged her not to be shy about her struggles, assuring her that she would testify to divine healing.

In an emotional video shared on Instagram, singer Lanre Alewilese urged Nigerians to support her during this critical time.

“She really needs your support NOW!” he said, while also sharing her account details.

Alewilese appealed to musicians across all genres, noting that saving her life goes beyond religious or industry boundaries.

“Please, for God’s sake, I’m calling on both young and old – my brothers and sisters in the gospel industry, including juju and fuji musicians. Let’s set religion aside and save the life of sister Bunmi Akinanu Omije Ojumi,” he pleaded.

He added that despite sending private messages to several singers, the situation required a public outcry due to her deteriorating condition. He revealed that she had been moved from one hospital to another, contrary to earlier hopes that she had recovered.

Other entertainers – including Yinka Alaseyori, Olabest, Alayo Melody, Akinade Olubukola, actress Foluke Daramola, and more – have also taken to their social media pages to request prayers and financial assistance on her behalf.

Although the exact nature of her illness remains unclear, the videos circulating online have sparked widespread concern among fans and the general public.6
