The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has confirmed that one person was killed and another injured in a fatal road traffic crash that occurred in the early hours of Monday at Eleko Junction along the Lekki–Epe Expressway.
According to statement signed by the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Oluwadamilola Jayeola, and made available to National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the crash, which was caused by speed violation and loss of control, involved two vehicles: a commercial Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KSF 813 QR and a private Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 514 HX.
“Regrettably, one person lost his life, while the other survived without injury,” the statement noted.
According to Jayeola, FRSC operatives promptly worked in synergy with the Nigeria Police Force to manage the situation, stressing that the deceased was evacuated by the Police to the morgue, while the vehicles involved were recovered to ensure the free flow of traffic and prevent secondary crashes.
“The Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, commiserates with the family of the deceased and reiterates the Corps’ call on all road users—especially motorists and motorcyclists—to strictly adhere to speed limits, exercise patience, and maintain full control of their vehicles at all times.
“The Lagos Sector Command assures the public that it will continue to intensify its end-of-year special patrols, public sensitization campaigns, and enforcement operations to reduce road traffic crashes and enhance safety across Lagos State,” the statement concluded.
