Members of the Nigeria Police Force, Officers of the Federal Fire Service, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.
It is with great honour and humility that I address you today at the launch of The 2025 Fire Safety Week, an important event organized by the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, Kano State Command. This event is a significant step toward raising awareness about fire safety and enhancing our collective capacity to prevent and respond to fire incidents effectively.
I am particularly pleased that this year’s Fire Safety Week includes the training of 100 Police Officers on ‘Basic Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills.’ This initiative is a commendable step toward equipping our officers with critical knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to fire emergencies. Fire Safety is an essential component of public safety, and by empowering our officers with these skills, we are not only enhancing their capacity but also strengthening the overall safety framework of Kano State.
I would like to use this opportunity to commend the Federal Fire Service for their tireless efforts in training and capacity building. Your dedication to equipping personnel and institutions with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to fire incidents has undoubtedly helped in saving countless lives and properties.
I wish to express my profound gratitude to the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service for the recognition and award of the status of “Chief Fire Safety Ambassador” conferred upon me today. This recognition is not only a personal honor but also a reflection of the strong partnership and collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Fire Service in Kano State.
The notification letter accompanying this award highlights, in part, my support for fire services and compliance with fire safety provisions, which have contributed to a significant reduction in losses of lives and properties in Kano.
I pledge to do more, and assure you that the Kano State Police Command will continue to prioritize Fire Safety measures in all its activities and facilities.
As we Launch The 2025 Fire Safety Week, I encourage all stakeholders, including community leaders, organizations, and members of the public, to actively participate in promoting Fire Safety. As Fire Prevention and Response are shared responsibilities that require vigilance, awareness, and proactive measures from everyone.
In conclusion, I once again thank the Federal Fire Service for this recognition and for their continued partnership with the Nigeria Police Force. I also commend the officers and men of the Kano State Police Command for their efforts in maintaining Fire Safety, even as I dedicate this Award to all of us.
Let us all, therefore, continue to remain committed to building a safer and more resilient society.
Thank you, and may Almighty God bless us all.
