Bayelsa Shines Bright at Gateway Games 2024

Bayelsa State continues to dominate the 22nd National Sports Festival, dubbed the Gateway Games, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. After four days of intense competition, Team Bayelsa leads the pack with an impressive haul of 27 medals.
Delta State trails in second, followed by Osun State in third, Rivers State in fourth, and Lagos State in fifth. Strong performances are also coming from Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Cross River, and Edo States.
Standout athletes include Lucky Joseph, who clinched three gold medals in weightlifting, and Peter Oyakemeagbegha, who secured gold in Kungfu Sanshou, bolstering Bayelsa’s commanding lead.
The festival remains a vibrant showcase of Nigeria’s athletic talent, with fierce battles for top spots still unfolding. As more events await, the race for glory intensifies.
