Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke

• Says Accord will serve as Platform for 2026 Re-election

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally declared his membership of the Accord Party, days after exiting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This medium reports that the governor made the announcement on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party. He also confirmed that he will seek a second term in 2026 on the party’s platform.

Adeleke revealed that he had quietly joined the Accord Party on November 6, after weeks of consultations with political stakeholders and community leaders across the state.

According to him, his decision to switch parties was driven by the need to continue the ongoing delivery of “good governance and democratic dividends” which, he said, have been widely acknowledged within and outside the state.

“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare,” he said.

Welcoming party leaders to the Government House, Adeleke described Accord as “the new platform for victory” in 2026, adding that the party is now united in its vision to take over governance in the state and sustain ongoing achievements.

He stressed that his administration has placed the welfare of residents at the centre of its policy direction and would remain committed to elevating the well-being of workers and citizens through reforms in infrastructure and social services.

“Osun voted for good governance in 2022 and they will support continuity in 2026. The mass of our people are for continuity, and Accord is our party for victory next year,” he said.

Adeleke urged supporters across Osun West, East, and Central senatorial districts to rally behind the new platform, declaring that Accord has become the state’s new political home.

“With deep respect for the wishes of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party,” he announced.
