In a country that has a huge housing deficit going to over 18million, the need for affordable housing cannot be overstated. A property development company that is out to meet this immense need is Revolution Plus Property. Now in its fifth year of operation, the company has come out with huge success story and is rearing to do more.
The MD/CEO of Revolution Plus Property, Bamidele Onalaja granted Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper an exclusive interview where he shared on the progress of the company, their successes, challenges, real estate industry and the Nigerian economy.

Trek Africa: Revolution Plus Property is becoming a household name in real estate, how do you do this?

Bamidele Onalaja: What we preach in Revolution Plus is affordable housing. We have properties as low as N750,000 that is payable at N5000 or even N2000 over 2 years. And we also have properties that is worth N50million which you can spread over 1 – 2 years.
Trek Africa: What is your plan in Revolution Plus for salary earners?
Bamidele Onalaja: It is important that irrespective of how much you earn that you invest in property. That is why at Revolution Plus, we create affordable housing because we know that income differs for people and so, we want you to plan as you work because you are not getting younger and the major investment you can fall back on is properties. Real estate is the only investment that is real because it appreciates every day. In Revolution Plus you can even do N1000 daily.
Trek Africa: A new government is coming into place May 29, what is Revolution Plus doing to partner state governments so that their workers and citizens can benefit from the wonderful packages of Revolution Plus?
Bamidele Onalaja: We work closely with the government because you can’t do much as a property developer without the help of government. Most of the documentation we do is with the government putting into cognizance the Land Use Act 1978 that all land belong to the government so we partner with the government. There is over 18 million housing deficit in Nigeria which is massive, government cannot do it alone. This is why the private sector is needed but we need the government to make enabling policies that will not frustrate the efforts of developers. Getting documentation e.g. C of O, Deed of Assignment, and Governor’s consent should be fast and easy as A, B, C
Trek Africa: What are the opportunities for unemployed Nigerians in the real estate industry?
Bamidele Onalaja: As we speak Revolution Plus indirectly put food on the table of over 5000 every day. These people are realtors who collect commission for every sale they make. What about printers, carpenters, bricklayers, painters, security guards who work in our different locations. So it is a chain, we can say we have empowered over 10000 in our first five years. At Revolution Plus, we encourage you, we teach you how to make money yourself.
