The 2025 National Security Conference and Awards, organized by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), recognized Mr. Umar Ahmed Tijani, Chief Executive Officer of TransEnergy E‑Global Resources Nigeria Ltd, as the NAOSNP Innovative Energy Personality of the Year.

The award was presented during the association’s conference ceremony at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, where security chiefs, government officials, and private‑sector leaders gathered under the theme “Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources: A Call to Serve.”

Mr. Umar was singled out for his relentless drive to integrate sustainable energy solutions into Nigeria’s security framework, a move that aligns with the broader push for regulatory collaboration and energy transformation highlighted at the event.

In a brief interaction with the media during the event, Mr Umar emphasized that innovation in energy is inseparable from national security, noting that stable, clean power underpins every critical infrastructure from mining operations to digital surveillance systems. He pledged to deepen partnerships with agencies like the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance the synergy between the energy and security sectors.

TransEnergy E‑Global Resources Nigeria Ltd, under Mr Umar’s leadership, has already rolled out pilot projects, some of which include:
1. Developed a preliminary feasibility study for transition to a low-carbon economy and achievement of climate neutrality by 2060 in partnership with a Kazakhstan based company.

2. Z-Power, a low-emission engine technology such as combined heat in power plants. For decarbonization in Shipping.

The NAOSNP President, Mayor Oki O. Samson praised Mr. Umar for his “visionary entrepreneurship, strategic foresight, and a commitment to sustainable development,” qualities the association says are essential for Nigeria’s energy transition and long‑term economic resilience.

The recognition comes amid a national conversation on regulatory collaboration and policy coherence in the energy sector, as highlighted by industry stakeholders at the recent OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week.

Experts agree that honours like this spotlight the private sector’s role in driving the clean‑energy agenda and reinforcing Nigeria’s path toward a low‑carbon, secure future.
