First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Engages Traditional, Religious Leaders In Lagos • Says, interventions of renewed hope initiative are not party biased

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu says the ongoing review of the 1999 constitution provides a unique opportunity to find answers to the question about the constitutional role of traditional rulers in nation building.
She stated this during an interactive engagement with traditional rulers and religious leaders in Lagos State.
The First Lady pointed out that as the custodian of tradition and culture, they are the closest to the grassroot, hence their influence weighs much.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu seized the opportunity to appeal to the traditional rulers and religious leaders to increase the advocacy on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS testing, HPV vaccines for girls while she also informed them of the upcoming Green Nigeria Challenge, a competition organized by the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Flow With Confidence program, where adolescent girls in rural areas would be given one year supply of disposable sanitary towels to ensure they do not miss school due to their monthly flows.
The Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier lauded Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the various programs of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI especially in areas of Agriculture where women and youths have been empowered, the Young Farmers Club, Health, where she has continued her advocacy and support to end Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Cervical Cancer, Education where she has continued to give out scholarships and promote girl child education, social investment and economic empowerment.
In his remarks on behalf of all the Traditional Rulers present the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi appealed to the First Lady of Nigeria to help promote alternative schools for boys as much as she is doing for the girls.

The visit of the First Lady continues tomorrow, Saturday 23rd August when she will hold the RHI/SDG Women Empowerment program for 500 women in the State and the commissioning of the Lagos State Leather Hub.
