Controversy Rocks Islamic Community As Markaz Agege Leader, Sheikh Adam Accuses Farooq Onikijipa Of Witchcraft

The Islamic community has been thrown into turmoil following an explosive allegation made by the Mudir (leader) of the renowned Islamic institution, Markaz Agege, Sheikh Muhammed Adam (El-Ilory), who accused popular cleric, Sheikh Sulaimon Farooq Onikijipa, of orchestrating his recent illness through diabolical means.
The shocking revelation was made during Markaz’s 2025 Ramadan Tafseer Programme, stirring widespread debate among Muslim faithful.
Speaking during the event, Sheikh Adam alleged that his mysterious sickness, which struck in 2022, was the result of a spiritual attack masterminded by Onikijipa.
According to him, the feud traces back to a perceived slight in one of his father’s books, where the elder Sheikh Adam failed to mention Onikijipa’s father among noble Islamic clerics.
He further accused Onikijipa of harbouring resentment over his family’s exclusion, claiming that this had led to animosity.
“Sheikh Onikijipa accused my father of not including his father’s name in the list of noble Islamic clerics in one of his books. But who is his father? The Markaz leader recounted two separate incidents where he allegedly fell victim to the diabolical acts. He claimed that during a wedding event in Ilorin, an unidentified individual rubbed a handkerchief on his neck before handing it to Onikijipa.
On another occasion, Adam alleged that Onikijipa inserted two gourds into his pocket at another wedding ceremony, after which he suddenly lost his ability to speak. “I didn’t lose consciousness, but I couldn’t talk. In response, Sheikh Onikijipa vehemently denied the allegations, swearing by the Quran to affirm his innocence.
