Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has suspended Prof. Abu Kasim Adamu, the Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL) in Lapai, effective immediately.

The suspension comes amid reports of ongoing conflicts between Prof. Adamu and university staff, although the specific reasons for this decision have not been publicly disclosed.

Allegations of high-handedness and insubordination have surfaced, suggesting that these issues may have contributed to the strained relationships with faculty members and union bodies. The internal tensions have reportedly increased as Prof. Adamu’s tenure is set to conclude in two months.

Governor Bago has instructed Prof. Adamu to transfer his responsibilities to the next most senior academic, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Hassan Ibrahim, who will now assume the role of Acting Vice Chancellor.
