JAMB Is The Largest ICT User Globally — Registrar Claims
By Trek Africa Newspaper

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has claimed that JAMB is the largest user of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the world, particularly for registration and examination purposes.
Speaking at the 2024 International Week and 17th Annual Research Conference at the University of Lagos, Oloyede emphasized that no other country, including the United States, United Kingdom, or India, conducts entry examinations for over 2 million candidates simultaneously, as is done in Nigeria.
Trek Africa Newspaper report that he highlighted that JAMB’s use of ICT begins with candidate registration, incorporating both protective and detective mechanisms to prevent fraud.
The board conducts its examinations through computer-based testing and processes admissions using the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), ensuring fair treatment for all candidates.
Oloyede further cautioned against the uncritical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), citing inaccuracies found in some online platforms, and urged that users apply both AI and natural intelligence wisely.
He noted the importance of careful verification when using AI tools, sharing his own experience of inaccurate results from ChatGPT when querying past vice-chancellors of the University of Lagos.
