Peter Obi Responds to Court Ruling Affirming Julius Abure as Labour Party Chairman

Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has responded to the Federal High Court ruling that reaffirmed Barrister Julius Abure as the party’s legitimate national chairman. Obi shared his reaction after a meeting with Abia State Governor Alex Otti, along with the Labour Party’s Caretaker Chairman and Secretary.
The court validated the 2024 Labour Party national convention held in Nnewi, which resulted in Abure’s reelection, emphasizing that the convention adhered to all legal standards in Nigeria.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Wednesday, Obi called for unity among party members, expressing a commitment to emerge stronger from the ruling. He urged LP members to remain calm and patient while ongoing discussions and consultations take place.
“We must not allow this to divert us from addressing the pressing issues affecting our people today,” Obi said. “The task of creating a new Nigeria is possible, but it will not come without challenges.”
