Delta: Father of Nine Takes Own Life Over Alleged Marital Issues

A father of nine, known simply as Charles, has tragically taken his own life amid an alleged marital dispute in the Jeddo community of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, Charles reportedly ingested a poisonous substance, suspected to be sniper, around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024.
A resident of Jeddo, he consumed the lethal substance at his home before heading to the residence of his in-laws in Ugbokodo, where he passed away shortly afterward.
Trek Africa Newspaper gathered that Charles was a member of the Jeddo Community Vigilance Group, which is responsible for maintaining security in the area.
Reports suggest that his decision to end his life may have been linked to personal issues, including the abrupt departure of his wife following a heated argument.
Despite attempts by Charles and mutual friends to reconcile the couple, his wife reportedly refused to return to the marriage.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that he has not yet received official information regarding the case.
