Armed bandits abducted the district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya, over the weekend in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack occurred when the bandits stormed Kanya village, resulting in the death of one person, Sherrif Alhaji Almu, and injuries to three others who are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. In total, eight individuals were taken captive, including the district head.

Nafui Abubakar, the police spokesperson for Kebbi State, confirmed the details of the attack and stated that a combined security team, led by the police, has initiated a manhunt for the assailants and is working to rescue those abducted.

He also mentioned that the Kebbi State government has provided the necessary resources to combat banditry in the affected areas, particularly in Kebbi South and the Zuru emirate.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another attack where armed bandits killed the APC Chairman of Suru Local Government and abducted another individual in Matseri village, Bunza council.
