The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reaffirmed its dedication to combating corruption with the announcement of its five-year Strategic Action Plan for 2024-2028, named “Operation Integrity.” The plan aims to tackle corruption and promote transparency across Nigeria, as stated by ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare in a release on Monday in Abuja.

As part of this initiative, the commission is focusing on empowering Nigeria’s youth to advocate for integrity while increasing its efforts against corruption. Bakare highlighted the launch of “EthicsPod,” a pioneering digital media podcast program tailored for the youth, making it the first of its kind by any anti-corruption agency in West Africa.

“The launch of the Strategic Action Plan marks the commencement of a new five-year roadmap following the successful implementation of the 2019-2023 plan,” Bakare noted. He emphasized that the new plan will continue to leverage innovative methods and sustained actions to combat corruption effectively.

The “EthicsPod” podcast, which will be unveiled by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, aims to educate and engage young Nigerians on the significance of transparency and accountability. The bi-weekly podcast will feature discussions with experts, beneficiaries, victims, and key actors sharing real-life experiences and practical tools to combat corruption.

Bakare expressed that the podcast is integral to ICPC’s mission to boost public reporting of corruption cases by the conclusion of the 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan. The program, supported by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme, is expected to attract prominent government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of Nigeria, George Akume, who will represent President Bola Tinubu at the launch event.

Through these initiatives, ICPC aims to lead the charge against corruption and foster a culture of integrity and accountability throughout Nigeria.
