Edo Decides: We Deserve Credible Election – Davido
By Trek Africa Newspaper

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared his reasons for his interest in the ongoing Edo State governorship election.
Trek Africa Newspaper reports that residents across Edo State turned out in large numbers on Saturday to cast their votes in this off-cycle gubernatorial election.
Davido has been vocal on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged malpractice during the election, prompting questions about his involvement given that he is not originally from Edo State.
Responding to inquiries on his X handle, Davido explained that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State.
He stressed that, beyond his personal connection, all Nigerians should be concerned about the electoral process.
He recalled previously calling out INEC during the Osun State gubernatorial election when his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, was the incumbent governor.
Davido stated, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha .. @inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”
Additionally, Davido had previously endorsed the PDP candidate, Asuen Ighodalo, for the Edo governorship election via his Instagram account.
