Bandits Kill Five Policemen, Three Soldiers in Deadly Zamfara Ambush

At least eight security personnel were killed by bandits on Thursday near Tazame village in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to local resident Mubarak Mohammed, the victims, which included five policemen and three soldiers, were providing security for Satraco Nigeria Limited, a road construction company.
Mohammed explained that the security team had been stationed along the Gusau-Tsafe-Zaria Road to protect construction workers repairing the road.
Trek Africa Newspaper gathered that the bandits reportedly ambushed the security personnel, opening fire as they arrived at the site, resulting in multiple fatalities.
“The bandits were hiding on a nearby farm and attacked as soon as the police and soldiers arrived, killing some of them instantly,” Mohammed said.
He added that a fierce gunfight ensued, leading to further casualties among the security forces, although some bandits were also killed during the exchange.
The attack caused panic along the road, with motorists abandoning their vehicles and fleeing into the bush for safety.
Mohammed noted that the road construction, which began last year, has been hindered by frequent bandit attacks, with only a few kilometers completed so far.
“This project has been delayed for months because bandits frequently target both the construction workers and travelers,” he explained.
