Mobereola, NIMASA DG, raises alarm over social media impersonators.

The Director General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dayo Mobereola, has expressed concerns over faceless persons who impersonate him on social media platforms.

Raising the alarm on his X handle, @MobereolaD, the NIMASA DG disclosed that the perpetrators of this heinous act used fake and fraudulent media accounts to defraud the unsuspecting members of public with his name.

While dissociation himself from such fake accounts, Mobereola enjoined members of public not to fall prey to the antics of these fraudsters and be diligent in dealing with them.

“I have been made aware of several fraudulent media accounts impersonating me on Facebook, Linkedin, and other social media platforms.

“Some even go to the extent of phoning people and impersonating me.

“Please be advised that these fake accounts are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Myself or the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in any way. 

“Consequently, any interactions and communications on these fake accounts are unauthorized and are potentially harmful.

“I strongly urge the public to be hereby informed not to engage with these unscrupulous persons masquerading as myself and report suspicious social media posts and/or requests to the administrators of the social media platforms. 

“Should the public require information, the Agency’s official website, nimasa.gov.ng remains the source for genuine information and enquiries.
