Lagos CP, Owohunwa promoted as Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG
By Trek Africa Newspaper

It was a cheering news in the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday following the announcement of the promotion of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, to the rank of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
With the promotion to the AIG rank, Owohunwa is to leave the state police command for a higher duty. This is because only those in the rank of CP can become heads of the state commands.
Owohunwa became the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State on February 15, 2023 after taking over from DIG Abiodun Alabi, who is currently Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of Force CID.
While CPs are in charge os state police commands, AIGs are in charge of zonal police commands comprising between two and three state police commands.
For example, the AIG Zone 2, which has its headquarters in Lagos State, supervises both Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands.
