THE LEGACY GROUP IN APC IS SIDELINED IN THE CROSS RIVER STATE OF NIGERIA By Obol Okoi Obono-Obla

The outgoing APC National Women Leader is from Central Cross River State.
She was in office from March 2022 to July 2023.
Her 4 years tenure should have ended in March 2026.
In other words, she didn’t complete her 4, years tenure.
Therefore any woman from Central Cross River is competent to vie to occupy the vacant position of National Women Leader.
However, in the alternative, if the Party decides to Zone the position of National Women Leader to the Northern Senatorial District it should be reserved to only aspirants from Bekwarra and Obanliku Local Government Areas.
In my own opinion, this is the Justice of the matter.
Further, the National Women Leader must be from the Legacy Group of the APC in the State.
The Legacy Group is made up of the Legacy Parties that merged in 2013 to form the APC.
They are the defunct ACN, ANPP, CPC, and factions of APGA and DPP.
The Legacy Group has been deliberately emasculated, marginalized, and driven to the fringe of the APC in Cross River State.
In ministerial appointments, nobody from the Legacy Group was considered worthy of appointment.
Concerning the appointment of Commissioners, only two people out of 25 are from the Legacy Group.
In 2022 all members from the Legacy Group were denied tickets to contest under the platform of the Party in the State.
Presently all the Chairmen of local government areas chapters in the State are those who joined the Party, in 2022.
The same is true of all Ward Chairmen and their Executive Committees.
The injustice against the Legacy Group is oozing, barefaced and fragrant.
It is suffocating and the Legacy Group is short of breath.
I therefore pray that justice should be done to the Legacy Group and it must be seem to be done.
Injustice always breeds dissension, conflict, and rebellion.
