Diaspora Progressives At Democracy Day Press Briefing

The Democracy Day 2023 press briefing, titled “HOPE ASSURED,” was held earlier today at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Nigeria. The Press briefing was delivered by Senator George Akume, CON, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
In his remarks, Senator Akume highlighted the significance of the June 12 celebration and expressed gratitude to former President Muhammadu Buhari for officially recognising June 12 as Democracy Day. He also acknowledged the contribution of the sitting President, H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the struggle for democracy in Nigeria.
During the Q&A session, Honourable Bello Oyakhilome, representing the Diaspora, raised a question regarding the inclusion of the Diaspora within the government framework.
In his response, Honourable Dele Alake acknowledged the Diaspora’s role in the successful election and assured them of their participation in the government. He also conveyed the President’s appreciation of the Diaspora to Prince Ade Omole and his team for a job well done.
The Diaspora team was led by Prince Ade Omole and comprised the following members, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed; Prof. Ali Alao; Hon. Bello Oyakhilome; Dr. Wole Aboderin; Barr. Obiageli Nwufor; Hon. Oluwatoyin Oyekanmi; Alh. Abdulrazak Danjuma; Hon. Becky Ekpeyong and Comr. Hafeez Yauw.
