On the same day, the club hosted the 42nd Governor of District 9110 who achieved the new feat of being the first female District Governor.

The new District Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Olayinka Lawson was born in 1957 and became a school principal at age 37. She was also the Director of Education in 2008. She is a member of the governing board of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin, Lagos.

While charging the two new inductees, Matthew Ibadin and Adediran, the District Governor, Rtnr. Omotunde Olayinka Lawson noted: ‘This certificate we are giving you, frame it and put it in your office. It shows that you value the organization.

The procedure is like the Bible for us, every Rotarian will have an e-copy soon. The 4-way test is how we live everyday, recite it everyday, no Rotary Club starts any program without reciting it’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.

The new Rotarian, Rtnr. Matthew Ibadin who spoke briefly with Trek Africa Newspaper at the induction expressed his joy at the development, ‘The Rotary Club offers a unique platform. This is another way to be of help to humanity. Apart from what we have done in the area of security, whatever we can do through this platform will also go a long way.’

Speaking to older members of Rotary Club Falomo, Rtnr. Lawson who had once served at the District as Secretary and Vice-Chairman said her visit ‘is to appreciate you. You have used all your 4Ts to serve humanity. We can say thank you. The second thing is to motivate you. We know you are doing well, we want you to do even better. The third reason is to listen to you. I have looked at areas of membership, 2 members were delisted but you have to keep looking for membership. It is better for your members to be retained than for it to be dip. If a club must continue to be strong, it must not drop in numbers. I want more Interact Clubs and Rotakid Clubs. For Foundation, I have been told that you have 3 major donors.’

Praising the Club, she added: ‘You are an effective club. You are paying your dues. You have hosted your District Governor. You have good membership. You meet regularly.

You serve beyond the District and that is very good. This club is fantastic, you are contributing to the Foundation. In District 9110 we have what we call Global Radio 9110 where each club can tell what they are doing. It is global because it will be heard all over the world.’

Sharing some plans for the New Year, ‘We will do a polio walk in two phases – on the Island and on the Mainland. I have a painting that we are using to raise funds for Polio Plus. At a club, I asked for 500 dollars, I got 1900 dollars. At another place etc, I know we will do better, put it straight to the Foundation’s account.

Secondly, we have a Polio Plus Society and have about 140 members already. It is 100 dollars every year. If you want to be a member of the society, I will decorate you myself’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered from Mrs. Omotunde Lawson.
