Professionalism imperative for economic buoyancy, value addition – Chairman, Civil Service Commission

The Chairman, Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, Dr. Peter Singabele has called for more commitment to ideals of professionalism through ethics and consistent capacity building.

He disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) to his office on Monday.

The Chairman noted that adherence to ethics as the governing rules and guidelines of the accounting profession and honing of knowledge and skills is imperative to building trust and credibility of professional services.

In his remarks, ANAN President, Rev. Canon Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma said that the theme of the 2nd Session of 2022 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme, “Dynamics of Corporate Reporting and Governance” will boost Accountants’ capacity in buoying Nigeria’s economic development.

He noted that the MCPD would equip Members with high-quality knowledge and skills in corporate reporting in improving transparency, facilitation of domestic and international investment and capacity to ensure financial stability.

The President further noted that the MCPD programme would enhance comprehensive financial disclosures and ensure prevention and detection of financial fraud.
