Fire: LG chair advises business owners on extinguishers

Mr David Odunmbaku, Chairman, Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has urged business owners to install fire extinguishers at strategic locations of their shops to forestall cases of fire incident.

Odunmbaku made the call on Monday when he visited the scene of a fire incident at Odo-Eran plank market at Ogba area of Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the inferno, which affected many shops, started in the early hours of Sunday, destroying goods worth millions of naira.

The council boss, who expressed concern over the fire incident, advised shop owners and market authorities to be fire-conscious in order to protect lives and property.

 

He commended the combined efforts of individuals, firefighters from government agencies and companies in bringing the fire under control.

“I sympathise with the market authority and all shop owners over the fire incident that razed the market, and l pray for God’s protection on the people,” he said.

Similarly, the Council Manager, Mr Dele Abayomi, applauded the council boss for his proactive-ness to the plights of business owners and residents.

Market leaders, Mrs Oriyomi Arogundade and Mr Ilesanmi Buhari, separately praised Odunmbaku for being effective and responsive to their plights.
