In her consistency of reaching out to constituents under Lagos Central Senatorial District, Sen. Oluremi Shade Tinubu on Friday, 17th December 2021 organized her 31st edition of Town Hall Meeting. This time around, the meeting was decentralized to all the 13 LGs/LCDAs under the senatorial district. It also focused extensively on the elderly, hence the theme, COVID19 and Beyond: Safeguarding the Elderly. 1300 elders were given N10,000 cash support each, many more got their Covid-19 vaccination while the generality were encouraged to get under the cover of the Ilera Eko Health Insurance scheme of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA).

Mrs. Grace Oluchi Ibrahim, wife of Coker-Aguda LCDA Chairman who represented and read the speech of the Distinguished Senator Tinubu noted: ‘The elderly are a peculiar group. Their needs vary from the needs of the general population. We need to promote access to healthcare for the elderly.’

 

‘The government has put in place measures to ensure vaccination of as many Nigerians as possible. To make it easy for you, our dearly beloved elderly, provision has been made for you by being here today. We have made the same available in all the 13 venues of this meeting. Ensure that you take advantage of this opportunity.’

‘Please place utmost value on your health. We have made available Ilera Eko health insurance for you. It was made possible because our chairmen rose up to partner with us for this initiative.’

‘1300 beneficiaries from across the 13 LGs/LCDAs that makes up Lagos Central Senatorial District will receive N10,000. Please rest assured that as your representative, I will continue to push for economic development and empowerment that will ensure that Lagos Central is better off after my term.’

‘I feel very great for what our Senator Oluremi Tinubu is doing. I advise the elderly to take more precaution of the Covid-19 protocol and their health generally’, Mrs. Grace Oluchi Ibrahim concluded.

Reacting briefly to the auspicious initiative by the Senator, the Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Olamilekan Ibrahim said: ‘In today’s programme, we have 200 that are beneficiaries. The health insurance especially covers our elders for a year. This shows that our Senator has them in her heart. We have given what she asked us to give them. I advise our elders to value what has been given to them and use it. They should go to the health centres to complain about their health when they are not feeling well.’

A staff of Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) at the Coker-Aguda event, Mrs. Mudashiru spoke about the importance of the Ilera Eko Health Insurance. ‘My GM is presently in another location as you all know that this activitiy is happening in 13 other locations. LASHMA is a scheme that is signed by Lagos state Government and is compulsory for all Lagosians whether you are working or you are living in Lagos.’

‘We have family of 6 package for N40,000 and individual package of N8,500. The price has been highly subsidized by Lagos State Government. Please make sure you enjoy this offer. Choose the nearest hospital to you to visit whenever you are sick. It covers January – December 2022.’

 

‘We also have a promo going on. The prizes are korope bus, television, generator, and cash prizes. If you refer a family, you get N5000 and if an individual, you get N2000. It has been on since November and will round up in January.’

Market leaders, party leaders, community leaders, among others were present at the event. They include Hon. Bolaji, Leader of the House; Hon. Lanre Aminu, member of the house; Alh. Sarumi, APC elder, and Dolapo Ajagunna. The Baba Oloja of Coker-Aguda, Alh. Balogun praised: ‘The programme of our Hon. Senator Oluremi Tinubu is as usual. We are here and we thank God for her. God be with her. I advise our elders to be conscious of what we eat and try to do a little exercise for our health’.

On her part, Chief Kudirat Savage, the Iya Oloja General of Coker Aguda expressed: ‘This is not the first time she will be doing this for us. Our Senator Oluremi Tinubu has never promised and not fulfilled it. I pray that God be with her and she shall not experience any misfortune. She is doing tremendously.’
