The 57 Chairmen of the LGA/LCDAs in Lagos that were elected last weekend in the polls conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) have today been sworn into office by the Executive Governor of Lagos state, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Among them is Hon. Abdulhamed Salawu who will be sitting on the top seat as the Chairman of Somolu LGA for another tenure.
Speaking shortly with Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper at the ceremony, the Chairman popularly known as Dullar said: ‘The first tenure in office was a great time for us. The people of Somolu are expecting a lot more with a lot of projects.’
Abdulhamed Salawu continued: ‘We know the needs in Somolu. Where they need school, we won’t build roads.
Where they need structures, we won’t build schools. We have a lot of infrastructure problems that we need to solve. I am very sure that we are going to do what we know how to do best. We didn’t finish some, now we are coming back to do what we know to do best.’
On the rift with the party All Progressives Congress (APC) pre-council elections, the local council boss noted: ‘Reconciling our people within the party will not be our task alone. We are going to involve party leaders. Hon. Rotimi Olowo is there, Hon. Ademorin Aliyu Kuye is there among others, we will fix things.’
