Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed, has debunked the military’s claims of having outstanding N50 Billion of funds being withheld by the Ministry, adding that 100 percent releases had been made to the military since 2019.
The Minister stated this Tuesday at a special session before the Senate Committee on Army, this coming against the backdrop of a letter from the military that N50 Billion meant to fund Operation Lafiya Dole, Haderin Daji, and Thunder Strike are yet to be disbursed.
Ahmed said 100percent releases have been made of funds meant for the military to cover capital, overhead and personnel costs.
The Minister added that owing to the urgency of the security situation, her Ministry has resorted to accessing funds from the service wide votes, exceeding the funds originally appropriated for the military.
In a rather strange twist, a member of the Committee, Senator Chris Ekpeyong urged the media not to report the seeming sorry state of Nigeria’s military.
The service chiefs were absent at the session which shortly afterwards reverted to a closed door session.

Since all founds had been released to the Military, why MPB has decided not to pay Vets minimum wage areas and debacment allowance, the Minister should pls investigate on behalf of the Reteeries thanks
It’s well.
