GOC DIV 8, MAJ GEN. U.A YUSUF, BRIG GEN W.B. IDRIS VISITS CP BUBA, SEEK COLLABORATION TO COMBAT BANDITRY

The newly deployed General Officer Commanding Eight (8) Division, Sokoto, Major General U. A. Yusuf in company of the outgoing Brigade Commander, 17 Brigade, Katsina, Brigadier General W. B. Idris were at the Police Command Headquarters, Katsina on Thursday 22nd April, 2021 on courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Police Command, CP Sanusi Buba, psc.

In a press statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah stated that, “The newly deployed Commander, Major General U. A. Yusuf stated that he was in Katsina state to visit his personnel at the frontline and also to solidify the existing synergy between the Katsina state Police Command and the Nigerian Army components operating in the state. He appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Katsina state Police Command in the ongoing onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the state and urged the two forces to continue to join heads until they rid the state of bandits hibernating in the forest.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, thanked the GOC for the visit, which he said was timely and afforded the leadership of the two organizations to interact and discuss issues that affect the ongoing operations in the state. Furthermore, he reiterated that, the visit will strengthen the existing cordial relationship among the forces and will provide an impetus for synergy and collaboration aimed at taking the fight to the door steps of the bandits in the forest. The CP welcomed the GOC to the Zone and asked him to deploy more personnel and equipment as the police are ever ready to work with the Nigerian Army in dealing with security challenges.

The CP stated that he immensely appreciated the efforts of the outgoing 17 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General, W.B. Idris for his tact, commitment and doggedness in the ongoing battle against banditry in the state. He stated that under his leadership many bandits’ camps such as Dunya forest camp and others were liberated and occupied by security forces.

The visit came to an end with signing of visitor’s register, presentations of souvenirs and group photographs.
