BANDIT LEADER VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERS 22 SOPHISTICATED AMMUNITION, ACCEPT ZAMFARA GOVT PEACE ACCORD

In furtherance to the acceptance of Zamfara State Peace Accord initiated by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara State Dr. Muhammad Bello Matawalle MON, on Monday 8th February, 2021, an Ex – bandit’s leader from one of the largest and most notorious bandits camp at Dumburum Forest in Zurmi LGA of Zamfara State, by name AUWALU DAUDAWA voluntarily submitted twenty two (22) Arms and Ammunition of different calibre to the State Government Disarmament Committee that includes: One (1) Rocket Propel Grenade, One (1) Anti Air Craft rifle, One (1) Ak 49 and Nineteen (19) Ak 47 rifles with Seventy two (72) rounds of chain live Ammunition of Anti Air Craft. I Congratulate these gentlemen for honoring this clarion call. The Submission of these sophisticated rifles is a further demonstration that the peace initiative of the state government is yielding tremendous result. We salute the state Governor for this. Let me enjoin other bandits from different locations of the state to also embrace the Peace Accord and surrender their weapons so that Peace and Security of the State can be improved and sustained for economic, social and political development.
RECOVERY OF 14 ABANDONED MOTOR CYCLES BELONGING TO SUSPECTED BANDITS IN GIDAN GIYE VILLAGE OF TSAE LGA.
On 2nd February, 2021 at about 2230 hours, a distress call was received bt the DPO Tsafe Division that, Armed Bandits numbering about hundreds blocked Tsafe – Funtua Road with intend to rob innocent commuters. On receipt of the report, the DPO mobilised a combined team of Special Forces and Conventional Policemen to the scene. After serious gun duel with the bandits, they fled to the bush with possible gun wounds and left their fourteen (14) operational motorcycles and other bags containing their clothes and Military Camouflage uniforms. Case is being investigated at the State CID. Effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is being intensified.
