…Lagos Central Senatorial District Office to Accelerate Coordination and Distribution to Vulnerable
In order to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable residents of Lagos and to further ensure that the palliatives get to them, the Lagos State Government has started the second stream of distribution of the ‘Emergency Food Response’. Through the office of the senators in Lagos, the government expects to reach even more citizens in their communities. At a distribution exercise held at Police College, Ikeja, 1,950 bags of Rice and 2,925 bags of Garri (all 5kg each) were delivered to Lagos Central Senatorial District under the able representation of Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu.

Representing the Senator at the event, the Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Wahab Alawiye King said: ‘One of the factors militating against the effectiveness of the lockdown in Lagos is issue of hunger. So our Governor Babajide Sanwoolu said he will do everything possible to ensure that palliative get to every nook and corner. He decided to use critical stakeholders to distribute through their channel to the infirm, widowed, aged, feeble and the vulnerable.’
‘This is why the office of the Senators have identified persons that should get the food items. We have representatives of LGA chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, we want to ensure that these items get to the nook and corner of our constituency Lagos Central Senatorial District.’

On his part, party chairman of APC in Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA who doubles as Chair of APC party chairmen in Lagos Central, Prince Abiodun Abu said: ‘The Governor Babajide Sanwoolu has invited us through our distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu to collect food items for the needy in our community. The items are here, we will collect it and make sure it reach the people that need it. This is not the issue of party, or family affair, it is for everybody in the community. We know that this period of COVID-19 lockdown is very long. We are appreciating our Governor for all the action he has taken so far over this issue. We applaud the Governor.’
He added that they have been creating awareness about the pandemic, ‘Since the COVID-19 lockdown started, the items that is coming to our LGs, we always ensure that people know the source, why they are bringing it and why they must stay at home. This is the message we pass across, we don’t want the disease to spread in the community.’
Also present to witness the coordination was Mrs. Fadekemi Otitonaiye, APC women leader in Lagos Central Senatorial District. She said: ‘Lagos State Governor gave our distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu these food items to distribute because there are complaints about the first instance that the food is not reaching people. My advice for people is to stay at home and be safe. To be hungry is better than death.’
It is expected that these food items will reach the vulnerable in the thirteen (13) LGs/LCDAs under the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
