MUSLIM CLERICS HAVE TO WORK IN TANDEM WITH GOVERNORS, POLITICAL LEADERS AND POLICY MAKERS TO REGULATE ALMAJIRI PHENOMENON- Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu

It is the season of Quranic Walimas and so 71 proud students of Aisha Muhammadu Buhari Usaman Bin Afan Argungu Islamic School graduated on 5th January, 2020. The Wife of Kebbi state Governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, represented by her team, was on hand to support the students and school which she played a pivotal role in developing to this stage.
The school foundation was laid in 2015 by Her Excellency Dr Aisha Muhammadu Buhari. Subsequently, the school building was completed and has been continuously supported by the Wives of the President and Governor in cash and kind.
Others attended the walima in Argungu were Sheik Abubakar Giro, Representative of the Speaker Kebbi State House of Assembly Dan Masanin Kabi and other renowned Sheikhs.
Similarly, Hon Zara’u Wali led the delegation of Her Excellency Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu was at the Madarasatu Kitabu Wassunnah Badariya Birnin Kebbi where 32 Students graduated.
In attendance was the Chairman Birnin Kebbi LGA, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad, Representative of the Emir of Gwandu, Sheiks, Scholars and other distinguished guests.
Highlights of the Walima was Qur’anic recitation by the students and presentation of gifts.
Dr Zainab Bagudu, Khadimatideen, alongside other dignitaries were rewarded for their contributions to the Muslim Ummah and contributions to the improvement of Islamic Education.
The Governor’s Wife commended both School’s management for their relentless efforts, urged them to sustain their good work and donated 50 wrappers and the sum of N200,000 each to the graduates for motivation.
Dr. Zainab Bagudu used the opportunity to stress the need to parents to send their children to seek both established Islamic and Western Schools to improve the socioeconomic development of our communities. She further called on Muslim clerics to urgently put hands together and work with government and policy makers to arrive at a workable solution for the Almajiri phenomenon facing Northern Nigeria. She emphasized that the solution can and must come from the Muslim ulamas as no one can force them or parents to give up the tradition.
Finally, the PTA Secretary, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhamad thanked the First Lady of Nigeria Dr. Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Wife of Kebbi State Governor and other distinguished guests for their endless support and prayed to Allah to reward them all.
