Edo Deputy Gov Rallies Traders For Tinubu, Okpebholo Re-election

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr Dennis Idahosa, has appealed to traders in the state to support President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Monday Okpebholo, urging them to sustain the administrations’ development efforts.
Idahosa made the appeal on Wednesday while receiving the Best Deputy Governor in Nigeria Award from the New Building Materials Sellers Association, Edo State Chapter, during a thank-you visit to his office in Benin City.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor urged the traders to translate their appreciation of the Okpebholo-led administration into political support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in the Jan. 16, 2027 national election.
The Deputy Governor said continuity in governance was essential to sustaining ongoing development projects and consolidating the gains recorded by the state and federal governments.
He commended the association for recognising improvements in the business environment, particularly increased sales and customer patronage, which members attributed to improved security.
He particularly highlighted the introduction of a centralised tax collection system to address multiple taxation and ease the burden on traders and other business operators.
He said the government remained open to partnerships with credible business associations and professional bodies to advance the state’s development agenda in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While appreciating the association for the award, Idahosa attributed the recognition to the support and leadership of Okpebholo, saying his achievements as Deputy Governor would not have been possible without his principal’s backing.
Earlier, the association’s President, Mr Osahon Iguodala Gabriel, said the group was committed to supporting the development vision of Okpebholo and Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Gabriel disclosed that the association had commenced grassroots mobilisation and sensitisation among its members to promote the political cause.
He said the association had also organised a grassroots football competition, tagged Presidential Cup, as part of its mobilisation strategy.
According to him, the final of the competition is scheduled for Dec. 6, with the tournament designed to promote grassroots engagement and demonstrate Tinubu’s support among the business community in Edo.
