SWAT Operatives Recover AK-47 Rifle, Live Ammunition, Arrest Suspect In Adamawa

The Nigeria Police Force, through the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of arms and dangerous weapons and combat criminal activities in Adamawa and Taraba States, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
Following credible intelligence received on 5 March 2026 concerning the alleged possession of AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons by suspected members of a criminal network operating within the two states, SWAT operatives commenced discreet intelligence-led investigations and operations.
Consequently, on 25 August 2026, operatives arrested Alhaji Gayi Ibrahim Yahaya, male, aged 40 years, a resident of Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
During the operation, one AK-47 rifle with breech number S-47275 and three (3) rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
The suspect is currently assisting the police with useful information as investigations continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm and ammunition, as well as the activities of other persons allegedly linked to the criminal network.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks, recovering illegal arms and ammunition, and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians.
