Your installation call to greater service, Tinubu congratulates ex-First Bank CEO

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the former Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria, Dr Adesola Adeduntan, on his formal installation as the Balogun of Oyo.
The installation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Adeduntan is being installed by the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I.
Tinubu, in a statement issued on Friday, recalled Adeduntan’s distinguished career in banking and finance, which culminated in his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank.
The President said Adeduntan led a far-reaching transformation of one of Nigeria’s oldest and most important financial institutions.
Tinubu also acknowledged the former bank chief’s contributions to national development through enterprise, education and philanthropy.
The President specifically noted Adeduntan’s service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
He further highlighted Adeduntan’s philanthropic activities through the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, noting that he had invested in modern primary healthcare centres serving communities in Oyo and Ibadan, as well as in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
The President urged the new Balogun to bring his professional experience and commitment to excellence to his new traditional role.
“As you assume this historic responsibility, I urge you to bring to the service of the Alaafin, the Oyo Kingdom and its people, the same discipline, strategic foresight and commitment to excellence that have distinguished your professional and public life.
“Your installation is both an honour and a call to greater service. I trust that you will continue to deploy your experience, influence and resources towards promoting peace, opportunity, development and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage,” Tinubu added.
