Operation ‘KOSAYE’ Gives Criminals Nightmares: Ogun Police Arrest 16 Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles, Illegal Diesel and Critical Assets

In line with the strategic policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to strengthen intelligence-led, proactive, and community-based policing across the country, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has continued to sustain aggressive operational strategies against criminality across Ogun State.
In furtherance of the strategic objectives of Operation KOSAYE, the Ogun State Police Command has recorded another series of significant operational breakthroughs through coordinated intelligence gathering, prompt response to distress calls, forensic investigation, and sustained tactical operations across the State. The operations resulted in the arrest of 16 suspects for offences bordering on suspected illegal petroleum product dealings, vandalism of critical national infrastructure, burglary, house-breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and defilement. The Command also recovered two vehicles, one stolen motorcycle, four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), thirteen 25-litre jerry cans containing suspected diesel, one pumping machine, one generator, and several other exhibits, underscoring the sustained success of Operation KOSAYE in combating crime, protecting critical national assets, and safeguarding lives and property across Ogun State.
1. SWAT ARRESTS SUSPECTED DIESEL BUNKERER, RECOVERS ILLEGAL PETROLEUM PRODUCTS
On 21st July, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected diesel bunkering syndicate, operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit carried out a targeted operation at Abule-Iroko, Sango, leading to the arrest of Kabiru Afolabi ‘M’, aged 51 years.
Recovered during the operation were four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), thirteen 25-litre jerry cans containing suspected diesel, one pumping machine, and one generator allegedly used in the illegal operation.
Investigation has commenced to apprehend other members of the syndicate and unravel the network behind the illegal activities.
2. OTA DIVISION ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS FOR ALLEGEDLY VANDALISING TELECOMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE
On 12th July, 2026, at about 0700hrs, detectives attached to the Ota Division acted on credible intelligence received from a member of the public that two suspects were allegedly vandalising a telecommunications mast cable at Ten Ten Street, Mine, Ota.
The detectives swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested Nnabike Uzolo ‘M’, aged 26 years, and Chino Mgbenya ‘M’, aged 28 years, a commercial motorcyclist, in connection with the incident.
Following a thorough investigation, the suspects were charged to court for the alleged offence. The Command reiterates its commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and warns that anyone found engaging in acts of vandalism will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
3. IDANYIN DIVISION ARRESTS SUSPECTED THIEF AND RECEIVER, RECOVERS STOLEN GOODS
On 21st July, 2026, at about 1900hrs, detectives attached to the Idanyin Division responded to a report of burglary at a commercial establishment.
Swift investigation led to the arrest of Hammed Olanrewaju ‘M’ and Emmanuel Victor ‘M’, while part of the stolen property was recovered from the receiver’s shop.
Investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining property and identify other accomplices.
4. AJUWON DIVISION RECOVERS STOLEN MOTORCYCLE, ARRESTS SUSPECT
Following a report received on 3rd July, 2026, at about 1330hrs, concerning the theft of a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, detectives attached to the Ajuwon Division carried out a painstaking investigation, which culminated in the arrest of Mathew Mark ‘M’, aged 20 years, and the successful recovery of the stolen motorcycle.
The suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
5. AGBADO DIVISION ARRESTS FOUR SUSPECTED BURGLARS THROUGH FORENSIC TRACKING
Following the investigation of a house-breaking incident reported on 5th July, 2026, forensic tracking of one of the stolen mobile phones led detectives attached to the Agbado Division to Sodiq Raji ‘M’, aged 32 years, whose arrest further led to the apprehension of Zubby Nzube ‘M’, aged 28 years, Adeyemi Omoyajuowo ‘M’, aged 30 years, and Chimezie Iwuanya ‘M’, aged 35 years.
Some of the stolen property has been recovered, while investigation continues to recover other exhibits and apprehend fleeing accomplices.
6. AGBADO DIVISION ARRESTS SUSPECT IN DEFILEMENT CASE
On 21st July, 2026, at about 2030hrs, detectives attached to the Agbado Division arrested Saliu Akinwande ‘M’, aged 50 years over allegations of defiling an 11-year-old girl.
The victim was immediately taken for medical examination and treatment, while the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
7. IJEBU IMUSHIN DIVISION FOILS HIJACKING, RECOVERS MINI TRUCK
On 19th July, 2026, at about 0430hrs, operatives attached to the Ijebu Imushin Division swiftly responded to information that armed hoodlums had hijacked a mini truck conveying aluminium doors and window frames along the Benin/Ore Expressway.
On sighting the Police, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby forest. The truck was successfully recovered and released to its owner, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
8. ATAN IJEBU DIVISION RECOVERS ABANDONED VEHICLE
On 21st July, 2026, at about 1145hrs, operatives attached to the Atan Ijebu Division recovered an abandoned bus following credible information received from members of the public.
The vehicle has been removed to the station for safekeeping pending identification and contact of the rightful owner.
9. ATAN IJEBU DIVISION ARRESTS FIVE SUSPECTS IN TWO SEPARATE BURGLARY OPERATIONS
In separate operations carried out between 13th and 21st July, 2026, detectives attached to the Atan Ijebu Division arrested Ayomide Odufuwa ‘M’, aged 27 years; Adura Adebanjo ‘F’, aged 26 years; Samuel Sunday ‘M’, aged 25 years; Bashiru ‘M’; and Muhammed ‘M’ in connection with separate burglary and house-breaking incidents.
The operations led to the recovery of stolen clothing, household items, bedding materials, and other exhibits. Investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the officers and men involved in the successful operations for their professionalism, vigilance, prompt response, and unwavering dedication to duty. He reaffirmed that the Command remains resolute in sustaining the momentum of Operation KOSAYE through intelligence-led policing, enhanced visibility patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, forensic investigation, and robust community partnership to deny criminal elements any operating space within Ogun State.
The CP urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and facilitating prompt operational response. He assured the good people of Ogun State that the Command would continue to intensify Operation KOSAYE and other proactive policing strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives, property, and critical national assets across the State.
