Lagos Police Command, POCACOV Partner Apapa-Iganmu LCDA To Celebrate Children’s Day 2026…

 

 

As part of the effort to continuously educate the youths and communities against the danger of cultism, the Lagos State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has partnered with the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi stated that, “The Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), in collaboration with the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), organised a sensitization programme to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.”

According to the statement, “The programme, themed “Your Future Is Not for Sale; Say No to Violence, Cultism and Drug Abuse,” was held at Iganmu Senior Secondary School, Lagos; featured the participation of students from various public and private secondary schools, in Orile and Iganmu axis, alongside stakeholders, educators, community leaders, and dignitaries committed to youth development and crime prevention.”

“Representing the Commissioner of Police, the Divisional Police Officer of Orile Division, CSP Ogunleti Phillips, reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to preventive policing through advocacy, mentorship, enlightenment, and sustained engagement with young people across the state.”

“The Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, commended the initiative and stressed the need for continuous collaboration between government institutions, traditional leaders, communities, and security agencies in promoting positive values among youths.”

“Also present at the programme was Chief Hakeem Oladipupo Ojora, the Bashorun of Ojora–Apapa Kingdom, who represented His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulfatai Aromire, the Ojora of Ijora and Apapa Kingdom. He encouraged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and law-abiding in pursuit of their future aspirations.”

“Speaking during the sensitization session, the Lagos State Coordinator of POCACOV, SP Olivia Amarachi Ugochukwu, urged the students to shun cultism, drug abuse, violence, fraud, and other social vices capable of destroying their future and limiting their potentials. She encouraged them to embrace discipline, hard work, and positive associations.”

“The programme ended with students taking a pledge to be responsible and exemplary citizens dedicated to making positive choices for a better society.”

“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to community-based policing, youth development, and proactive measures aimed at preventing crime and building a safer Lagos for all.”
