The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, has inaugurated various directorates aimed at deepening youth engagement and advancing its impactful activities within the locality.
Inaugurating the directorates on Saturday in Lagos, during the council’s monthly management meeting, branch Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, charged the appointees to see their selection as a call to service.
Kushimo also said that it was an opportunity for the appointees to contribute meaningfully to the development of the council area.
The constituted directorates include Education and Training, Health, Transportation, Ethics and Peace, as well as Employment and Training, among others.
The coordinator said that the appointees were carefully selected from the local branch’s subsisting Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Voluntary Youth Organisations (VYOs) adding that the idea was to ensure fair representation across the seven political wards in Isolo.
He also said that the development was in furtherance of his administration’s commitment to deepen the state chapter’s P3+ Agenda, especially as it related to inclusivity at the grassroots.
“Today’s inauguration is a testament to our administration’s commitment of ensuring that all youth are involved in the development of our community.
“The appointees are professionals and vibrant individuals carefully selected from our subsisting affiliate organisations.
“Your appointments are a result of your capabilities, dedication, and proven commitment to youth development.
“I therefore charge you to approach your tasks with every sense of diligence, integrity, and purpose.
“Join hands with us; the executives, in changing the narrative about youths for good. Let your service reflect excellence, teamwork, and an unwavering passion for community advancement.
“Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and progressive Isolo for all young people,” Kushimo said.
The coordinator further announced that a proper leadership retreat would be held for the new appointees.
Kushimo appreciated the chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, and other political and community leaders in the locality for supporting the programme.
Also speaking, the former coordinator of the youth group, Mr Jamiu Adewole, lauded the initiative and described it as a bold step towards strengthening grassroots participation and broadening the scope of youth-focused development in locality.
He urged the appointees to be partners in progress with the NYCN executives in the locality.
