OMOTOSO COMMENDS LAGOS TRAFFIC RADIO, PUSHES FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE AT 2026 RETREAT

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, has commended Lagos Traffic Radio for its efforts in projecting government policies and promoting traffic management in the state.

Speaking at the station’s Year 2026 Management Retreat, held at Novotel Hotel, Lekki, themed “Enhancing Organisational Productivity: Aligning People, Performance, and Purpose”, Mr. Omotoso encouraged the station to leverage technology, expand its coverage and adopt creative strategies to deepen public engagement, emphasising the importance of staying competitive in the media sector.

He further urged the station to strengthen its presence on social media, utilise graphics for clearer communication, and ensure ongoing staff training, noting that knowledge should be actively applied to enhance organisational performance.

In his goodwill message, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, Honourable Stephen Ogundipe, commended the General Manager, Mr. Tayo Akanle for his purposeful leadership and called on all staff to continue developing their skills as ambassadors of both the station and the Lagos State Government.

Earlier in his opening remarks, General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Tayo Akanle highlighted the station’s growth and achievements, attributing success to consistent capacity-building initiatives and staff development.

He announced that for 2026, two members of management would attend specialised training programmes every month as part of a deliberate investment in human capital.

”Let me also reaffirm that every member of staff brings unique value to this organisation. I am committed to ensuring that these contributions are recognised, supported, and rewarded. Lagos Traffic Radio must be a place where talent not only survives but thrives.”

”As we proceed, I urge each of us to leave this retreat with clear, actionable commitments, not vague intentions. Ask yourself: What will I do differently? By when? And how will I be held accountable? These are the outcomes we must define before we depart.”

The retreat also featured lectures from resource persons including Mr. Babatunde Ogundiran, who spoke on “Leading Self before Leading Others: Personal Mastery as the Engine of Organisational Productivity”, and Mr. Babajide Adetunmbi, whose lecture was titled “Building Trust and Success through Teamwork.”

Other notable attendees included, Lawmaker representing Somolu Constituency II, Honourable Samuel Apata, and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye.
